Following the in-person SC members meeting that took place earlier this year, the SC members decided that the theme for this year’s General Assembly (GA) will be Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). The ACCA is pleased to collaborate with its partner organisation, KeNRA in organising this important event on the ACCA calendar.
FPIC forms part of the on-going work streams of the ACCA, and the ACCA views the advancement of FPIC across the continent as an important element in advancing community rights across the continent.
Some of the objectives for this year’s GA include: reporting back on ACCA’s activities, hosting capacity building sessions centred on FPIC, hosting advocacy consultations ( based on ACCA’s current work streams), further strengthening relationships between ACCA’s member organisations and partner organisations; and hosting an NGO fair.
The ACCA Secretariat is committed to improving the quality of the GA. As such, this year’s ACCA GA has been structured to ensure that all sessions are more interactive and participative. The ACCA GA will be guided by community narratives, and allow spaces and opportunities for the ACCA membership to network and interact, and showcase their daily work.
The dates for the ACCA GA are 10-11 October 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya. The RSVP form and funding application form will be released in early July 2018. A draft agenda will follow shortly. We look forward to seeing as many of you at this year’s ACCA GA!
